Shelves are good. There are a lot of places in a house where shelves can be sited, including some that wouldn't at first seem obvious but which can be utilised to create points of interest.

That said, the most common place is in alcoves either side of a chimney breast. The usual method is to use concealed fixings which give a clean and stylish look.

The shelves can either run from floor to ceiling or the design can include a cupboard at the bottom. This can be a particularly useful option in a front room where a place is needed for electrical components or for things that are not beautiful enough to display on the open shelves above.

Bookcases are also a fantastic addition to a home. A built in bookcases can bring a whole new dimension to a front room, corridor or study. What was once just a blank wall or neglected corner can be transformed into a practical and beautiful space for books, photographs, objects from distant times or artifacts from far off lands.
