Here are some recommended manufacturers and suppliers, many of whom are other local businesses. You may also want to review what they offer so you can better understand the options available for your carpentry.

A J Ferguson
A fantastic and friendly timber merchant that I use for projects in West London. They provide a specialist cutting service and also produce high quality joinery to order. There is a great shop selling a good range of professional tools and components and the staff are knowledgeable and always willing to help.

Moss & Co.
A long established supplier of native and imported species of timber based in Hammersmith. I have used them to provide made to measure kitchen work surfaces. They have an unrivaled reputation and are always a pleasure to do business with.

Peter Noy Wood Turning
There are some things with wood I can't do, but if you want tailor made handles, ballustrades or other spindly things then I recommend Peter Noy. He's based in Streatham and made lots of oak handles for a kitchen I built using the offcuts from the work top.

Whitten Timber
A family-owned timber merchant in Peckham who sell a vast range of good quality plywood, MDF and specialist solid wood as well as a basic range of hinges, handles and that sort of thing.

Farrow and Ball
The famous posh paint makers don't just make a wide range of beautiful colours with playful names. You are paying for paint with a very good long lasting finish. I often use their 'Estate Eggshell' finish which is eco-friendly, almost entirely odour-less and very quick drying. They have shops across London.

Blum
An international manufacturer of very clever hinges and drawer runners. If you look carefully in the fanciest of kitchens you'll probably spot a Blum hinge is fitted. They can be 'soft close' so you'll never slam a drawer or cupboard shut again as well as 'pop open' for a minimalist handless-less finish.

Trevor Semple
My inspirational tutor from Guildhall University, a remarkable man who makes remarkable musical instruments. It may never happen but I hope that one day I will be able to afford to buy one of his guitars.

Luca's Bakery
For physical sustenance - I am lucky living in East Dulwich because I have one of London's finest bakers on my doorstep to provide the food I need to do a physically active job.

Radio 4
For intellectual sustenance - I had to include a reference to it somewhere on this site because I love it and I am lucky enough to have the freedom to listen to it while I am working.
